Couples therapy · Oakville
Online couples therapy for partners in Oakville, with in-person sessions at our Mississauga office about 15 to 20 minutes up the 403. Attachment-based and EFT-informed work for committed partnerships, with CRPO-registered clinicians who take no sides.
We do not have an Oakville office. For couples in Glen Abbey, River Oaks, Bronte or Kerr Village, Mississauga is often closer than downtown Toronto, and many Oakville couples split the difference: in person in Mississauga for the first few sessions, online from home once the work has a rhythm.
Why Oakville
Oakville couples often come in looking, from the outside, like they have it handled. Two careers, a house, kids in three activities, aging parents in Burlington or Toronto, and a calendar that runs the family more than either partner does. The conversation that would fix things keeps getting scheduled for later. Therapy gives that conversation a fixed time and a third person in the room who is not keeping score.
Publicly funded couples support in Halton is limited and often waitlisted, and many private options nearby are solo practitioners. We are a nine-clinician practice with six who do couples work, which means a consultation this week is usually possible and evening slots exist.
What we work on
One partner pursues, the other withdraws, and the topic changes but the shape never does. We slow the cycle down until both of you can see it from the outside.
Trust that took a hit, from a betrayal or from years of small misses. Repair is deliberate work, and it is possible when both partners want it.
Two competent people running a household like a logistics company, with the closeness leaking out the sides. Common in dual-career and new-parent couples.
Interfaith, intercultural and immigrant partnerships where the pull of family expectations lands unevenly on each of you.
Pre-marital work on money, children, faith, in-laws and conflict style, before those conversations become emergencies.
Discernment work when one or both of you is unsure. The goal is clarity you both own, not a verdict from us.
How it starts
It begins with a free 15-minute consultation, ideally with both of you on the call. You describe what brought you here, we describe how we work, and you decide whether the fit feels right. Nobody is assessed and nothing is decided on that call.
Most couples book the 80-minute session for the first appointment. Fifty minutes is enough to maintain momentum later, but rarely enough to get a full picture of two people at the start. From there a weekly or biweekly rhythm is typical, reviewed together as the work settles.
Your therapist takes no sides in session. The client is the relationship, and the work is with the pattern between you rather than with either person's list of grievances.

Yes, and many Oakville couples do the reverse: in person in Mississauga for the first two or three sessions, then online once they know the clinician and the work has momentum. Sessions run through Jane, a PHIPA-compliant Canadian platform.
Couples sessions are $200 for 50 minutes or $290 for 80 minutes, HST-exempt. The 15-minute consultation is free. Receipts come through Jane. Most extended health plans through Canadian employers cover Registered Psychotherapist services, though some treat couples sessions differently, so confirm with your insurer first.
No. Couples who come before things are bad usually get more from the work than couples who come after years of drift. Pre-marital work, a new baby, a move, a career change or a slow loss of closeness are all ordinary reasons to book. The free consultation is a low-stakes way to find out whether it would help.
Katelyn Matias, Daniella Simas Medeiros, Rashin Heydari-Alamdari, Kristen Lawrynowycz and Mahima Chauhan see couples in person in Mississauga or online. Julia Malynka works with couples online, including in Russian and Ukrainian. Rashin also works in Farsi and Mahima in Gujarati and Hindi.
The 15-minute couples consultation is free and has no obligation.
